Sandra Dean, a member of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church was awarded the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero Award January 15, 2016. A Community Hero is defined by the Tampa Bay Lightning website as:
A Lightning Community Hero could be your neighbor, your colleague, or your friend. A Lightning Community Hero demonstrates how a person with passion and determination can use their life to make a difference in the greater Tampa Bay community…and it is these unsung Heroes who help us decide where to donate $50,000 in their honor. We are delighted that we are once again looking to honor 41 inspirational individuals as Community Heroes at every Lightning regular season home game in the 2015-2016 season.
