Youth – 2022-2023

Letter from Youth Director Kate Donaldson November 1, 2022:

Here’s a look at our November:First, our high school PDQ NIGHT has been rescheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 9th from 7:30pm-8:45pm. This means we will NOT be meeting at the church for youth group next Wednesday, but rather enjoying some fellowship, dinner, and milkshakes! We ask students to bring enough money for dinner, but we will help out anyone who comes up a little short (or those who inevitably forget to bring money).

Our regular programming continues in the following patterns:

Formation X for our middle schoolers meets every Sunday from 10:00am-10:45am in the Couch Room (Eastminster 204).

We will not have Formation X on 11/20.

On 11/27, Formation X will join the children’s ministry for ‘Advent Wreaths, Ornaments, and Outreach’ to help with the different stations during our meeting time (in Eastminister 202/204). Volunteers are invited to arrive as early as 9:45am to help.

Youth Group is on Wednesday evenings in the gym from 6:00pm-7:30pm for middle schoolers and from 7:30pm-8:45pm for high schoolers who meet in the Youth Great Room (Eastminster 206). We will not have Youth Group on 11/23.

Talking Pts. meets every Monday evening from 7:30pm-8:30pm in Eastminister 204 (couch room) for our high schoolers.

We will not have Talking Pts. on 11/21.

Be sure to see all our communications and updates via Instagram by following us “@pcpc.youth”!

November Volunteer Opportunities:This month we have several service opportunities for all students! On Friday, November 11th, the church is hosting a ‘Parents Night Out’ event from 5:30pm-8:30pm. We are asking our middle and high school students to come hang out with children, help with games, etc. Service hours and dinner will be provided! Please reach out to me via email or text to sign up as a volunteer. Attached is the graphic for this event. This is the link to sign-up any infant through 5th grade children for the event by November 7th.

The ‘Advent Wreaths, Ornaments, and Outreach’ event on Sunday, November 27th is another service hour opportunity for any youth who would like to volunteer. This event is from 9:45am-10:50am in Eastminster 202/204 (game room).

Looking ahead… we are right around the corner from the 2022 Living Nativity on Sunday, December 4th. Even if your student does not want a role in the Nativity, we need Youth help with set up & clean up for the event. All participation can be turned in for service hours. This is the link to sign up for a volunteer role in the Living Nativity. Please email allison@palmaceia.org with any questions. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/livingnativity

And finally, Kenny will be on family leave for the month of November as he and McKay welcome their second child into the world!!! Please keep the Hubbells in your prayers during this new and exciting chapter :)Best,

Kate Donaldson

Youth-Fall-2022-Newsletter

Letter from Youth Chaplain Kenny Hubbell, August 3, 2022:

School is returning and that means youth programming at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church is also returning!

Welcome back, parents!

We hope that you’ve a fun and restful summer. Below you will find our “Fall Newsletter” which outlines where we are headed programmatically in the coming semester. Please read through it thoroughly and mark your calendars with important dates! If you can’t quite let go of the 90s/early 2000s, please print it out and put it on your fridge.

If your child has never attended a program or it’s been awhile, we encourage them to take that first step towards a new experience. We have such an incredibly sweet core group of students that all newcomers will feel welcome.

We seek to be a place where any young person from this community can know they belong and we have a long history of doing just that.

If you have a middle schooler, you may receive more communications from our Youth Intern, Kate Donaldson if you email her requesting to join the email list: kate@palmaceia.org. Be on the lookout for service opportunities and other program updates in the near future!

If you have a high schooler, you will continue to hear from me with similar communications, especially if you email me requesting to join the email list: ken@palmaceia.org. If you have a high schooler in need of service hours or simply enjoys working with children — we are seeking additional youth volunteers to be mentors to our children during our “Sunday Faith and Fellowship Hour” on Sunday mornings. Please see the sign-up genius link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0444abae229-faith9

We also have Sunday morning worship services at 8:30am and 11:00am in the sanctuary (traditional) and at 9:00am in the gym (contemporary) for those of you wondering/wanting to join us for church!

It’s going to be another amazing year at PCPC!

We hope to see you and your families soon!

To be sure you’re on the email list, email Youth Chaplain Kenny Hubbell: Ken@palmaceia.org.

A note from your Youth Leaders:

Week in and week out, we get to think, plan, and pray through what our young people are experiencing, managing, and needing.

It’s not easy being a teenager. We don’t forget or downplay the challenges that our middle and high schoolers are facing.

We are dedicated to walking alongside our youth and families in whatever season of life they are traveling through.

Please use us! Parents, talk to us about what’s been going on. Students, let us buy you a coffee or a milkshake. We want to hear about your life!

-Kenny and Kate
