Palm Sunday Concert April 2nd at 6:00 pm
Tampa Oratorio Singers (TOS) will present Dvořák’s Stabat Mater at PCPC on Palm Sunday, April 2 at 6:00 pm. Written in 1877, this deeply moving piece is Dvořák’s first work on a religious theme. The movements are based on the 13th-century Latin poem describing Mary’s compassion standing before the cross. The message of the Stabat Mater focuses on the spiritual and emotional bond which unites Mary and all Christians to the death of her son on the cross. This piece is a meditation on loss and faith, taking listeners on an emotionally honest journey through grief to spiritual healing, concluding with a radiant, optimistic ending. Conducted by Nancy Callahan and with professional soloists, Susie Hellman Spatafora (soprano), Robyn Rocklein (alto), John Kaneklides (tenor), Todd Donovan (bass), and orchestra will join the chorus. Tickets for PCPC members are complimentary and available at the Church Office on March 15. Tickets are also available at tostampa.org.
