Project Christmas – “Rise Against Hunger”
Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, from 12-2pm
Project Christmas is an event designed to refocus our attention during the season of Christmas. During this time of year, we are reminded that there was no place for Mary and Joseph in the inn. Jesus was born in humble surroundings, and spent the majority of his life speaking up for the voices that weren’t being heard.
3.1 million children die each year due to poor nutrition, which is nearly half of the deaths in children under five. That is why we feel called to provide opportunities of education and service, which benefit the voiceless children in poverty. The non-profit organization Rise Against Hunger will join us to pack 10,152 meals to fill the empty stomachs of children of God around the world and to use for disaster assistance in the Bahamas.
On December 15th at 12:00 pm we will have a simple lunch of beans and rice in the Fellowship Hall before we begin packaging meals until 2:00 pm. Rise Against Hunger provides a fun, fast, and exciting method for filling packaged meals. This event is a great opportunity for children and families to engage in service together, and it’s open to all ages and stages of life! If you have any questions, please email Kelly McCord firstname.lastname@example.org. We can’t wait to see you there!
